List of Restaurants and Bus to the "Espicha"

18th November 2005

A list of restaurants close to the Centro Municipal Gijón-Sur has been published. The day of the "espicha", which will take place on November 23 in Llagar de Castiello, a bus will be available at 20:30, to take all attendants to the "espicha" in the Plaza del Humedal, 3, next to the Gota de Leche Building.

First TAW Prize for Web Accessibility award ceremony

10th November 2005

Fundación CTIC (Communication and Information Technology Center) with the support of the Principality of Asturias Government and the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce, has launched the First TAW Prize for Web Accessibility . This national award is intended to acknowledge the work carried out by individuals and private and public organizations who have apply, in the development of Web contents and Web sites, the accessibility guidelines, developed by W3C, with the goal to ensure equal Web Access for All. The prize, which has four categories, will be given on Tuesday, November 22, once the Web Foundations 2005 conferences have concluded. See the program.

Web Foundations 2005 will offer an "espicha" in Gijón

Web Foundations 2005 invites attendees to a big "espicha", an informal dinner in the Asturian traditional style, which will take place once the panel on November 23 is finished. If you want to attend, you have to register in advance and your registration to the conference must be completed.
The registration period will be open until November 11.

Other lunches and dinners will be on your own.

Breakfast with Zeldman

Web Foundations 2005 brings you the opportunity to win a breakfast with Jeffrey Zeldman. All attendees to the conference will participate in a draw where five people, selected at random from the attendants, will have the chance to have breakfast with one of the most important experts in the area of usability and Web standards.
The five lucky winners will be noticed on November 10.

All seats for The Web Foundations 2005 conference, to be held November 22-24, have been sold out. The waiting list, opened to attend cancellations, has been also closed. People who are in the waiting list will receive an email in case of available seats.

The Organization thanks the interest shown in attending this international meeting on accessibility, usability and Web standards.

Additional seats available for the XHTML2/XForms tutorial

Due to the interest shown in this tutorial that will be held November 24, as part of the Web Foundations 2005 Conference, the number of seats have been increased. In order to offer these new seats, an additional room with a closed-circuit television has been added where attendants will be able to question the speaker. Please, remember that the number of seats is limited.

"Web Foundations 2005" launch

This event will gather together the most well-known international experts on accessibility, usability and Web standards such us Jakob Nielsen, Jeffrey Zeldman, Steven Pemberton, Shawn Lawton Henry, John Slatin and Inmaculada Placencia . These invited speakers will pose the "design for all" as an essential requirement for an equitable Internet access independent of hardware, software, network infrastructure, language, culture, location or user disabilities.

The Web Foundations 2005 conference, will be held from the 22nd to 24th of November, in Gijón and Oviedo, and it will highlight the urgent need to guarantee an universal access to information.

This conference is the first major event supported by the Regional Government's e-Asturias 2007 Plan, as part of the strategy for the development of the Information Society. The event is organized by Fundación CTIC and has also the support of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) through its Spanish Office and with the participation of the European Commission through the Deputy Head of its e-Inclusion Unit, Inmaculada Placencia.

During two days, the invited speakers will talk about accessibility, usability and Web standards in the morning sessions. In the afternoon sessions, Spanish speakers of national relevance in these areas will join them at the discussion panels. A tutorial course on XHTML2 and XForms, the next generation of Web pages and forms, will be held on the third day.
